First off, before getting to San Sebastián, we had to stop and transfer in Irun; a small town just across the border from France. I'm guessing we had to transfer due to the border crossing but oddly enough our passports weren't checked, which was somewhat disconcerting especially since we were seemingly the only ones left at the station trying to catch a transfer. Worry not, because soon Tricia and I were bickering back and forth about who would have the embarrassing task of asking for help in Spanish. I got the short end of the stick and had to ask, which I did with great success, until he followed up with some other directives that I didn't understand. Luckily, Tricia was able to understand the words so we were able to get a seat on the correct train (phew...hooray teamwork).
And so we began our trip in Spain on the "Renfe" (like our "Amtrak").

First stop in Spain was San Sebastián, which is a beautiful northern coastal town. Unfortunately, we were only there for a day but we got to see an amazing sunset as well as some talented finger art and a nice souvenir out of it.
San Sebastián has a beautiful beach for lounging and another for surfing. The pintxos, similar to tapas, is layed out at the bar as a pick n' choose finger foods to enjoy while drinking is definitely a foodie's paradise. I can see how San Sebastián is enjoyed by a lot of tourists and families.
Flying down to Malaga and the south of Spain, we had enough time in Malaga to just sit and relax on the beach. I would say Malaga is to Miami as San Sebastián is to Hilton Head. Malaga definitely had a younger feel with more shopping and a larger bar scene. To say the least we enjoyed the time to get off our feet and relax.
